Recreating the "Book of Thoth"

Etilla (Ethilla) was the first French person to succeed as a professional fortune teller.

In 1781, he was influenced by the theory that the Tarot originated in Egypt, which was proposed by Coeur de Gébelin, and around 1785 he published a book called “How to relax with the card game calls Tarot.”

Until then, tarot cards had mainly been used for games, so this change would have a major impact on future generations.

This tarot deck was designed by someone other than Ettilia and is a reprint of the one originally published in 1870 under the title "Grand Jeu de Oracle des Dames."

It is said to be a reproduction of the ancient Egyptian document, the Book of Thoth.

It has a different structure from the currently mainstream "Rider-Waite version" and "Marseilles version," and has a classic feel.

The cards are numbered consecutively from 1 to 78, and there are 22 cards called Superior Lames, and 56 cards called Lames of Wands, Lames of Chalices, Lames of Swords, and Lames of Pentacles, for a total of 78 cards.

The Superior Lames correspond to the Major Arcana, and the other cards correspond to the Minor Arcana.
